You get high quality, perfect fitting, beautifully designed fashion line that your customers cannot wait to wear and share with others. Indie Source’s product development program offers fashion designers and entrepreneurs a way to bring their design ideas to life before committing to any production orders. Read below to see how it works.
Never underestimate the time and money that can be saved by planning out key components of your line before creating anything. The first stage is a consultation with your project manager to share design vision and outline your finished product goals.
Key components we typically discuss include fabric & trim direction for each style, artwork deliverables for printing & labels, fit directives for pattern maker and delivery or timeline expectations for completion of project.
A consultation with your Sourcing Specialist to outline Material requests to be sourced. To target the most specific materials for your collection we hone in on Type, Composition, Weight, Color and Function of each fabric or trim.
Our Sourcing Specialist will shop the marketplace and work with our 50+ mills, converters and importers to obtain the materials for your collection in alignment with your merchandised design. If you are not local to LA, we will send you a materials booklet outlining all options for each style.
Once all materials are approved, The Pattern Maker will begin building your pattern from your fit sample or measurements based on pattern review and directives given to the Project Manager. A complete face card with sewing instructions will be created for each pattern and will come in a digital format.
Hand Cut & Sewn Samples
Once Designs have been finalized, materials approved and patterns reviewed, first samples will be hand cut and sewn for each style.
Finished samples will either be sent to you or a fitting will be scheduled in-house with Pattern Maker and Project Manager to review each garment. If additional alterations are needed a second round of samples may be requested.
